“I have what you need”, the sign on this store
Intrigued me so, that I went through its door
Consumed by life’s complexities
Relief from them was my great need
The man inside looked right through me
And stared with such intensity
My thoughts he read– for what he said
Heightened my curiosity
“Indeed, I have just what you need”
And gave me what was his
An odd, a strange, peculiar deed
His pair of eye glasses
“Outlook on life these will renew
Inside, life’s joy does lie
For it will change your point of view
You’ll see through a child’s eye”
I put in on and right away
The magic had begun
The night outside turned into day
The clouds cleared for the sun
I left that store with such great joy
This gift I constantly wore
Childlike, I was with this new toy
Through their eyes, now I saw
This innocence, joy, I had regained
And spoke my mind, now all the time
And shrugged off things I could not change
And laughed and cried when so inclined
A new lease on my life, I found
Feelings no more did I hide
My frown was now turned upside down
My inner child now worn outside
Through the eyes of a child
