The Book of Life

The Book of Life

Like a builder that lays no foundation without a plan
And the obedient soldier that waits for a direct command
And the embittered couple that seeks counsel in the midst of strife
So must we as followers of Christ, be guided by the book of life

It is the compass that sets our course so we don’t stray
And the food that nourishes our souls each day
A weapon we use in our war with temptation
This passport secures, in Heaven, our reservation

A gateway that opens to a path laden with grace
That leads us to the Day when we behold His face
Our sole source of power from which all things are possible
A trusted map of life, better known to us as the Bible

Angela

Thanks for your poem. I will share it my daughter who often wants life to move very quickly. When she comes to me for advice this poems says exactly what I would want to say to her after the the initial shock of her sharing. I usually take a deep breathe when she has the look on her face and I sometimes tell her it’s difficult to have an objective response as a parent, but as a friend I usually point her towards the bible with a verse. So I will post your poem and point my finger and she will know how blessed and loved she is and that she can get through everything life hands her.
