Ode to Love

Love lifts and escalates to fits of laughter
Loves excites just like a ride on a rollercoaster
Love liberates and breaks the chains that enslave
Love heals with a boundless grace that saves
Love serves, it washes feet without reservation
Love extends, it reaches without limitation
Love corrects, it never leaves you to falter
Love breaks, transcends you and makes you stronger
Love prays for you more than it prays for itself
Love values and never puts you to the test
Love sows mercy at the risk of reaping enmity
Love forgives completely without reciprocity
Love protects and shelters you from the storms of life
Love perseveres and overcomes in times of strife
Love hastens and is there in a heartbeat
Love never questions even in the face of defeat
Love denies self and gives with no restrictions
Loves lives, it lives to please without conditions
Love breathes as one, in perfect synchronization
Love loves perfectly without reason or ration

The Book of Life

Like a builder that lays no foundation without a plan
And the obedient soldier that waits for a direct command
And the embittered couple that seeks counsel in the midst of strife
So must we as followers of Christ, be guided by the book of life
It is the compass that sets our course so we don’t stray
And the food that nourishes our souls each day
A weapon we use in our war with temptation
This passport secures, in Heaven, our reservation
A gateway that opens to a path laden with grace
That leads us to the Day when we behold His face
Our sole source of power from which all things are possible
A trusted map of life, better known to us as the Bible

Calm in the Storm
Heavy is my burden in the eyes of the world
Yet lightened is this load because of my Lord
Strengthened by Him, sustained I am
A storm is brewing, yet I remain calm
The pressures of life are so overwhelming
My heart is heavy, my mind is racing
But refuge I take in the hands of my Lord
He gives me His peace in the midst of a storm
Though negative forces try to enslave
He keeps me strong; He makes me brave
He sets my soul free from captivity
And quiets my life so riddled with strife
I’m thankful, I’m blessed
Can never be stressed
When hardships usher in the storm
I am calm, for He keeps me strong

Rest in His Unbreakable Peace
Unless you have been living under a rock this past year, it is evident that we are living in tumultuous times. Be it on a local or global level, there are many challenges ahead for all of us. The good news is that even in these times of uncertainty, one thing is certain for us as Christians – we can rest in the unbreakable peace that only our Lord Jesus Christ can provide, knowing that He knows all and is in control of our lives.
Matthew 14:26-31- When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.” Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”
Let’s learn from Peter, who got caught up in what was happening around him, lost his focus on Jesus and as a result, started to sink.
For 2010, face your challenges by always keeping your focus on Him. He is the Calm that we need in the midst of the storm that surrounds us.
Have a Blessed and Peaceful New Year!

Christians Awake, Salute the Happy Morn

-
Nativity Mural located in The Church at Shepherds’ Fields, Bethlehem

“Christians awake, salute the happy morn
Whereon the Savior of the world was born
Rise to adore the mystery of love
Which hosts of angels chanted from above
This day hath God fulfilled His promised Word
This day is born our Savior, Christ the Lord”
Written by John Byron, England, 1745
This photo of the nativity mural was taken by Hannah when she visited the Church at the Shepherds’ Fields located in Bethlehem. This is believed to be the site where the angel appeared to the shepherds.
Luke 2:8-10: “And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”
From all of us at W2WSoul, we wish you and your loved ones, a joyous Christmas Day!
Merry Christmas!

The Best Love in The World!
I was thinking about God’s love the other day, how utterly large and encompassing it is. I couldn’t get my mind around it; how Jesus could love me so much that He would make such an immense sacrifice on my behalf. I thought of the pain He suffered, all because He wanted to give me the chance to spend a life with Him, both here on earth and then eternally in heaven. What a sacrifice for little insignificant me, a sinner, so undeserving of such great mercy and love.
Why is it so hard for us to grasp or understand His love for us? Why do some people find it difficult to accept, even though it is offered so freely by our Savior? That morning I wasn’t having difficulty accepting His love; after all these years I’ve come to fully embrace it now. My selfish human mind may not fully comprehend it, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t accept it with my arms open wide. That morning I experienced an overwhelming sense of gratitude since all He asks in return is that I love Him too, with all my heart, mind and soul.
What a little price to pay for such a great gift! There I was, crying my eyes out on I-75, my heart swollen with joy and an indescribable love I felt for my Father in Heaven.
Don’t let Satan rob you of the glory of receiving and accepting God’s love. Don’t let him fool you into thinking that God could never love you because of all the terrible things you’ve done. That is a lie. Satan is the father of lies (John 8:44) and he’s always trying his best to entrap us in his lies. Remember, John 3:16 says, “For God so loved THE WORLD…” that is every single person on earth from your home to Timbuktu. I know one of the hindrances is that the Gospel is so simple in its truth that man fails to see the power in its simplicity. God doesn’t make it difficult; we make it difficult.
On this Valentine’s Day, let us not get bogged down with the world’s view of love. Of course, spend time with your loved ones and thank God for placing them in your life. But I pray you will also take some time to ponder on the greatest love ever shown. Revel in it and give thanks to your Father for what He has done for you. Maybe you will be blown away like I was that Sunday morning.
