Sea of Galilee where Jesus and Peter walked on water

Unless you have been living under a rock this past year, it is evident that we are living in tumultuous times.   Be it on a local or global level, there are many challenges ahead for all of us.  The good news is that even in these times of uncertainty, one thing is certain for us as Christians – we can rest in the unbreakable peace that only our Lord Jesus Christ can provide, knowing that He knows all and is in control of our lives.

Sea of Galilee where Jesus and Peter walked on water

Matthew 14:26-31- When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.” Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”

Let’s learn from Peter, who got caught up in what was happening around him, lost his focus on Jesus and as a result, started to sink.

For 2010, face your challenges by always keeping your focus on Him.  He is the Calm that we need in the midst of the storm that surrounds us.

Have a Blessed and Peaceful New Year!

  1. What a beautiful shot of the sea of Galilee that Hannah took – it just looks so peaceful. It is true – many things are happening around us and we do need to be vigilant, we need to stay close to Him and we need to focus on spreading His Word.

  2. Thanks Liza, going on the Sea of Galilee was amazing, I felt so at peace.

    Kaleb,
    This beautiful prayer came to mind after reading your article:

    The LORD bless you, and keep you;
    The LORD make His face shine on you,
    And be gracious to you;
    The LORD lift up His countenance on you,
    And give you peace.’

    (Numbers 6)

  3. Thanks for the reminder of God’s Unbreakable Peace, will need it for the new year, Blessings!
